Ember Table - Virtual Tabletop
A downloadable Virtual Tabletop
Ember Table is a system-agnostic virtual tabletop built to make shared imaginary worlds feel tangible.
At its core, Ember Table treats maps, characters, inventories, tokens, notes, and game state as connected parts of the same living tabletop. Select a character on the map and you’re interacting with the same character represented by their sheet and inventory. Move an item, change a stat, apply a condition, or switch scenes, and the table reflects it.
When I built this for my sons, I had games in mind. The combat from a player's perspective can be played with a controller (specifically, a NES style controller).
Rather than forcing every RPG into the shape of one specific ruleset, Ember Table is designed to be flexible enough for fantasy campaigns, horror games, post-apocalyptic adventures, rules-light systems, and strange homebrew games with mechanics that don’t fit neatly anywhere else.
The goal is simple: give players and GMs a digital space that supports the fiction instead of getting in its way.
Ember Table is being built around interactive maps, movable tokens, custom character data, inventories, notes, conditions, encounters, multiple scenes, and a growing set of GM tools, with deeper customization and system support planned over time.
It is less about recreating a physical table on a screen and more about creating a shared interface for the world everyone at the table is imagining together.
Maps. People. Better stories.
Ember Table was created with the help of AI via Codex. It's in active development and more features are planned. Currently, 30 maps and 30 monsters are present, as well as four character classes with upgrade paths and leveling up to 10.
This is an alpha. It will be updated over time. Should you decide to contribute, it would mean the world. <3
